We are a global team focused on disciplined capital allocation and long-term value creation for all stakeholders, who care deeply about our impact on communities and the wider world.

Underwriting Assistant II, Wholesale Property

Everest is seeking an Underwriting Assistant II to join our U.S. Wholesale Property Operations team.

The position provides operational and technical support to Everest's Wholesale Property underwriting teams across the commercial property policy lifecycle. The Underwriting Assistant II supports multiple Wholesale Property segments and helps deliver timely, accurate service from submission intake through policy issuance and midterm servicing.

Everest provides customized insurance solutions for complex risks. Within Wholesale Property, Underwriting Operations partners closely with underwriters, brokers, business-process partners, and technology teams to deliver accurate and responsive service while maintaining strong operational controls.

Job Summary

This role is part of Everest's Operations organization and provides operational and technical support to Wholesale Property underwriting teams, including Middle Market, large-account Primary and Excess Property, and Assumed Reinsurance. The Underwriting Assistant II independently manages assigned transactions, coordinates with underwriting and business-process partners, and helps ensure that submissions, bind requests, endorsements, policy documents, and related records are processed accurately and within established service commitments.

Primary responsibilities include:

Production Support

  • Process and service new-business submissions, renewals, bind requests, policy issuance activities, endorsements, cancellations, and other midterm transactions accurately and within established service commitments.
  • Perform assigned rating, binder preparation, policy booking, policy-document review, issuance, and file-maintenance activities in accordance with approved underwriting instructions and applicable procedures.
  • Confirm that required underwriting instructions and approvals are documented before completing bind, booking, issuance, or endorsement activities; escalate incomplete, inconsistent, or unclear instructions.
  • Gather, review, and track underwriting information and supporting documentation; maintain active oversight of assigned transactions, prioritize work appropriately, and drive timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts and transactions, maintaining ownership from intake through completion while balancing competing priorities and meeting service commitments.

Documentation, Quality and Controls

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely underwriting-file documentation, including transaction correspondence, approvals, policy documents, and required checklists, in accordance with recordkeeping and audit requirements.
  • Validate key policy and transaction data across source documents and systems, investigate discrepancies, and complete assigned reconciliations or corrections.
  • Identify and promptly escalate processing exceptions, system issues, service risks, quality concerns, and potential control or compliance issues.
  • Meet established internal and external service-level commitments while complying with applicable regulatory requirements, operational controls, and documented procedures.
  • Review and follow current processing guidelines, workflows, job aids, and control requirements; identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvements that enhance accuracy, service, and operational efficiency.

Partnership and Relationship Management

  • Build effective working relationships with underwriters, brokers, and internal partners by providing timely, accurate, and professional responses to service inquiries and by communicating transaction status, missing information, and potential delays.
  • Participate in regular workflow and account-prioritization discussions with underwriting partners and Operations colleagues; raise capacity constraints, aging items, missing information, and processing issues promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with underwriters and operations colleagues located across U.S. offices and time zones.

Operational Support and Quality Review

  • Coordinate with Business Process Outsourcing partners, review assigned transactions for completeness and accuracy using established checklists, provide factual feedback, and escalate recurring issues through the defined quality process.
  • Update assigned operational reports, trackers, dashboards, or reconciliations accurately and on schedule.
  • Complete assigned peer reviews and quality-control checks using established procedures and checklists; document findings and escalate material or recurring issues appropriately.

Continuous Improvement and Development

  • Share process knowledge and support onboarding, cross-training, and day-to-day guidance for less experienced team members as assigned.
  • Contribute to process-improvement, technology-adoption, testing, training, documentation, and other operational initiatives as assigned.
  • Learn and adopt evolving workflows, technology, and automation while maintaining accuracy, documentation, and service continuity during periods of change.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Two or more years of experience in commercial insurance operations, underwriting support, policy administration, broker service, or a comparable service support or transaction-processing environment.
  • Experience supporting commercial property or excess and surplus lines business is preferred.
  • Experience delivering responsive, professional service to business-to-business customers or partners in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance terminology, policy structure, underwriting-support processes, and regulatory requirements; familiarity with commercial property coverages, forms, pricing tools, and policy-administration systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel; intermediate Excel skills such as sorting, filtering, formulas, and basic data reconciliation are preferred.
  • Able to learn and work across established and evolving insurance platforms, workflow tools, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities while following applicable procedures, controls, and data-handling requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree or relevant insurance coursework preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and workload-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet service commitments in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgment, professionalism, accuracy, and clear communication during periods of high volume or shifting priorities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with underwriters, brokers, Operations colleagues, business-process partners, and other stakeholders through email, Teams, telephone, and in-person interactions.
  • Demonstrate a service-oriented mindset, personal accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Use sound judgment and structured problem-solving to investigate processing issues, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others and continuously learning new processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple electronic systems.

The base salary range for this position is $57,000 - $82,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
