We are excited to bring on an Underwriting Sr. Consultant to join our Executive Benefits Team, supporting our Retail Solutions Business in a work from home environment.

As an Underwriting Sr. Consultant for Lincoln's Executive Benefits Team, you will support employer owned life insurance programs focused on executive and employee benefit funding solutions. This role underwrites COLI/BOLI/ICOLI programs while ensuring strong risk selection, regulatory compliance, and institutional underwriting discipline.

 
The ideal candidate brings deep COLI expertise, medical and financial underwriting judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with sales, product, case management, and reinsurance teams.

What you'll be doing
  • Underwrite Guaranteed Issue (GI) and Simplified Issue (SI) COLI cases in accordance with carrier guidelines and program parameters 
  • Analyze lives within executive and broad based COLI/BOLI/ICOLI programs
  • Determine appropriate ratings, underwriting actions, and capacity decisions
  • Review compensation data, employee classifications, and benefit structures
  • Assess financial justification consistent with employer owned life insurance standards
  • Ensure policy face amounts align with program intent and eligibility requirements
  • Underwrite in compliance with IRC §101(j) notice and consent requirements
  • Ensure adherence to carrier COLI governance standards and underwriting guidelines
  • Support internal review committees and large case decision processes
  • Perform medical underwriting as required
  • Apply thorough knowledge of Qualified Purchaser and Accredited Investor definitions to support program eligibility, structure, and regulatory alignment
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external partners
What we’re looking for

Must-have experience (required):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Underwriting Individual Life Insurance 
  • Demonstrated Excellence in:  Problem Solving / Analysis; Comprehension of Complex Information; Influencing Others; Risk Assessment; Demonstrated decision making using sound judgment; Negotiation Skills; Managing Conflict
  • Developed Skills in analyzing and interpreting complex financial documents including profit/loss statements, income statements, and balance sheets
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Intermediate in: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • A demonstrated track record of working with minimal supervision, being a self-starter and working with others in a team environment

Nice-to-have experience (preferred):  

  • Industry Exams –  LOMA encouraged

The pay range for this position is $96,900 - $176,200 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
