Your Security Career - Paid Training & Promotion Path Available
GCI Security, Inc. - Greater St. Louis Area
POSITION SUMMARY

Security done right. Leadership built from within. At GCI Security, we don't just post guards - we empower protectors. As an unarmed security officer, you'll play a critical role in delivering worry-free protection to the people and places we serve. Whether stationed at a residential neighborhood, retail store, or office building, your presence will provide peace of mind through professionalism, visibility, and vigilance. Our officers are the frontline ambassadors of our mission: to protect with purpose and represent our values every shift.

Starting Pay: $18.00-20.00 per hour (depending on site and experience) with unlimited long-term earnings potential as part of GCI's Fast-Track Leadership Program.

This is more than a job - it's a launchpad. We're actively looking for individuals with the ambition to rise through the ranks into leadership, operations, and executive-level roles within our rapidly growing company. We're building a team of growth-minded professionals, not just shift-fillers. If you're open to learning the business side of security and eventually stepping into customer-facing, leadership, or business development roles, GCI is the place to grow.
ABOUT US

At GCI Security, we believe great security is about more than having someone on-site - it's about trust, presence, and purpose. We're a locally owned company that was the first to deliver private security services to local taxing districts in St. Louis. Today, we continue to lead the industry by providing worry-free, professional guarding services that protect what matters most.

Our mission is clear: Built to empower. Driven to protect. Trusted to deliver worry-free security guarding at the highest standard.
We serve private neighborhoods, corporate offices, retail properties, industrial sites, and more - delivering proactive protection through visible presence and responsive service.

At GCI, we don't just fill shifts - we build careers. Our team lives by five core values: Professionalism. Accountability. Growth. Communication. Integrity. These values shape how we hire, train, and promote from within. If you take pride in your work and want to grow with a company that backs you up, GCI is the place to do it.
OBJECTIVES

  • Maintain a high-visibility presence to deter crime and reinforce client peace of mind.
  • Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols to monitor premises, secure perimeters, and identify safety concerns.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity or safety hazards promptly and accurately.
  • Provide friendly, professional interaction with residents, guests, employees, and the general public.
  • Enforce site-specific policies and procedures while maintaining GCI's standards of courtesy and respect.
  • Write clear, detailed incident reports and daily shift logs using GCI's reporting systems.
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents with calm, sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Assist emergency personnel as needed and communicate effectively with law enforcement when required.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the GCI brand with integrity at all times.
  • Stay alert, aware, and present - minimizing distractions while on duty.
  • Prepare each post for success by arriving on time, following post orders, and completing all shift responsibilities.
  • Communicate regularly with field supervisors and dispatch to ensure seamless coverage and quick response.
  • Participate in ongoing training to build professional skills and prepare for advancement opportunities within GCI.

COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrates consistent professionalism in appearance, behavior, and communication.
  • Maintains situational awareness and remains alert in all environments.
  • Communicates clearly, calmly, and respectfully - both verbally and in writing.
  • Uses sound judgment to assess situations and respond appropriately under pressure.
  • Follows instructions with precision and takes responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Treats all individuals with respect and fairness, regardless of the situation.
  • Embraces feedback and strives for continuous improvement and growth.
  • Upholds high ethical standards and makes decisions aligned with GCI's core values.
  • Works reliably with limited supervision and follows through on commitments.
  • Adapts quickly to changing site needs or client expectations.
  • Represents GCI Security with pride and takes ownership of the role.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Prior security, military, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

New to security? No problem. GCI Security proudly welcomes individuals who are new to the security field. If you don't yet have a security license, we'll guide you through the process and even reimburse your licensing fees during your first three months with the company.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
  • Ability to patrol on foot or in a vehicle, depending on the post assignment.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Must be able to observe and hear accurately to assess environments and respond appropriately. Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

GCI Security is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We believe that great security starts with great people - and that means building a team with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

We hire and promote based on professionalism, performance, and alignment with our values - not on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or background.

Our commitment is to create an inclusive, respectful workplace where everyone has the opportunity to grow, lead, and protect with purpose.
YOUR NEXT STEP COULD BE THE ONE THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

If this sounds like the kind of opportunity you've been looking for - and you're ready to protect with purpose - we want to hear from you. Your potential goes far beyond the post. Let's unlock it together!
