Job Description

The College of Optometry at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis invites applications for you to join our dynamic academic community.  We seek caring and compassionate optometry educators and clinicians with expertise in a variety of areas including: Ocular and Systemic Disease including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, Primary Eye Care, Contact Lenses, Pediatric Optometry, Binocular Vision, Acquired Brain Injury, Ocular Surface Disease and Dry Eye.
If successful, you will receive a twelve-month, non-tenure track appointment. Initial rank for the full-time clinical appointment will be commensurate with prior experience, qualifications and individual interests.  
Successful candidates will have the experience and skills to be able to contribute to the development, evaluation, and enhancement of optometric education, as well as to support the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Optometry.  Faculty for clinical ranks are expected to provide instruction and service in the professional program and maintain a clinical practice for UMSL Eye Care and affiliated clinic partners. You may also serve as a mentor for student research. The primary area of emphasis depends upon prior accomplishments, qualifications, and your specific interests.  

Qualifications

Required:
  ·  Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree, eligible for or active license to practice optometry in Missouri
  ·  Experience with, or demonstrated potential to develop, innovative instructional strategies and technology
  ·  Expertise in an area of emphasis and contemporary issues in optometry and healthcare  
  ·  Demonstrated experience in the effective dissemination of evidence-based practice and translating research into clinical care and education
  ·  Experience teaching, providing clinical services to, and collaborating with students, patients, and colleagues.   
Preferred:
  ·  License to practice optometry in Illinois
  ·  Completed an ACOE-accredited residency
