Job Summary and Qualifications

The ultrasound technologist operates ultrasound equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with standard operating procedures. Accomplishes patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner. The ultrasound technologist must be able to think and act independently and assess emergency situations accurately. Good oral and written communication skills are required. The Ultrasound Technologist may be required to perform invasive and non-invasive procedures on a variety of patients, utilize sterile techniques and assist physicians as necessary throughout the Mission Health System. Continuing education, learned skills and experience will be utilized. This position will function without constant supervision to produce superior quality imaging studies. Depending on the needs of the specific department, the Ultrasound Technologist may routinely work in additional ARDMS specialty certifications. This includes but is not limited to; Abdomen (AB), Vascular (RVT), Breast (BR), Fetal Echo (FE), Neurosonology (NE), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) or Pediatric Sonography (PS).

What qualifications you will need:

  • Required Education: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related profession.
  • Required License: ARDMS or ARRT Registry in Ultrasound at time of hire. Additionally, Vascular Ultrasound Registry from either ARDMS, ARRT or CCI must be obtained within 12 months of hire date for Ultrasound positions at independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTFs). Must complete required CEU’s to maintain certification. BCLS certified.
  • Preferred License: ARDMS in multiple specialties.
  • Required QA: Technologist must participate in section QA programs as necessary and complete required educational guidelines in addition to the ARRT, ARDMS or CCI re-certification guidelines.
  • Preferred Experience: 12 months previous experience in ultrasound
