Job description
Collaborates with department Director and other leaders to develop strategic plans, processes and objectives for the team. Supervises Clinical Applications and Imaging IT analysts, which support mission-critical clinical applications used by UCSF physicians and clinical staff. This includes (but is not limited to) Voice Recognition Systems, PACS, Diagnostic and Enterprise Clinical viewers, Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), Radiant, and other imaging post-processing systems. Collaborates with other UCSF Health IT Systems in developing patient-centric imaging solutions and procedures. Manages Service Delivery to all Imaging IT customers. Supports small project management and maintains good ITIL and SDLC practices. Assists in managing the Imaging IT Application portfolio. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of the department, division and the organization. The incumbent develops staff to ensure consistent, technology-competent service across all areas of Imaging IT. The applications Imaging IT supports are used by the Medical Center to acquire, store, report, and distribute imaging studies. The incumbent must have expert-level imaging informatics, leadership, and communication skills.

UCSF Health IT - Enterprise Imaging IT combines clinical excellence and outstanding education in a leading academic health sciences institution. Enterprise Imaging manages over 70 Clinical Imaging applications across multiple functional areas, over 320 radiologists' workstations on-prem and at home, and onsite Datacenter. The department comprises the following functional areas: Radiology Applications, Specialty, Infrastructure, and Diagnostic Station Service, and is comprised of 25 team members across the department areas.

Manages Clinical Imaging application portfolio and customers; including Oakland Childrens, Marin Health, and other clinical departments using Clinical Imaging applications. Manages the needs of functional departments and works to establish daily priorities, feasibility studies, systems design and implementation through subordinate analyst team . Supervises the Imaging IT Team including Clinical Systems Analysts (11 FTE). Oversees and manages Service Management to all Imaging IT customers. Supports Imaging Dictation/Reporting systems and develops optimization strategies.Develops data integration strategies.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- At least 5 years of experience managing technical staff
- Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility, with knowledge of other areas of IT, and managing a software support team.
- Working knowledge of the operations of clinical imaging systems and the policies, processes, and practices involved with managing, storing, and transferring medical images - including DICOM and HL7.
- Familiarity with enterprise-class networking, including routing, firewalls, load balancers, and network security
- Willingness to accept after-hour pager responsibilities (on-call) that include weekdays/weekends/holidays
- Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple units or departments
- Experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies
- Thorough knowledge of Imaging IT technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software.
- Has strong skills associated with managing the internal information systems functions, data communications network and campus, medical center or Office of the President security systems.
- Extensive or advanced knowledge of subject area sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction
- Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.

- Advanced degree preferred.
