Student Accessibility Services:

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with 4,000+ students with disabilities every year to facilitate equal access and reasonable accommodations. SAS works closely with faculty, Housing, and other departments to ensure disabled students experience equal opportunity to the campus experience. SAS also explores ways in which the UCF experience can be proactively designed with disability access and inclusion considered from the outset so as to minimize the need for reactive accommodations. Overall, SAS' accessibility work spans most areas of campus with opportunities for various engagement and the ability to make a campus impact.

The Opportunity:

Student Accessibility Services seeks applications for an Accessibility Services Coordinator. The Accessibility Services Coordinator plays a key role in supporting equal access for UCF students with disabilities. This position conducts interactive accommodation meetings, partners with faculty to implement approved accommodations, and contributes to campuswide accessibility initiatives. SAS serves thousands of students each year, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success. This position contributes to the disability access and accommodation process by meeting with students to determine reasonable accommodations, facilitating accommodations with professors in the academic environment, and collaborating with campus stakeholders as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with students to assess reasonable accommodation requests, review documentation as necessary, and collaborate with the SAS team to determine reasonable accommodations within a structured review process; Analysis occurs through in-person meetings, Zoom meetings, phone calls, and email conversations.

  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure that reasonable accommodations are facilitated within the academic environment; Analysis occurs through in-person meetings, Zoom meetings, phone calls, and email conversations.

  • Lead or support specific projects within SAS that contribute to advancing equal access, greater understanding of disability and access, and accommodation facilitation within SAS' operations.

  • Support SAS in other areas, such as through relevant campus committees, non-academic accommodation matters, housing accommodations, accommodated testing leading up to and during final exams, SAS tabling and outreach events, last-minute front desk coverage; etc.

  • Maintain an understanding of best and evolving practices in the field through professional development, disability community listserv and discussion boards, and collaboration with colleagues at other institutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with any of the following experience:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Experience working in educational, nonprofit, or community settings.

  • Experience working in higher education or student support services.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, or cross functional teams to support accommodations or student needs.

  • Proficiency with CRM platforms or database management systems.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills used in student facing or client support environments.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $20.29-$21.55 ($42,367-$45,000 annually). The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
