TSC ’s Airborne Intelligence, Survelliance, and Reconassance (AISR) division in Arlington, VA is currently seeking a Software Engineer with an educational and/or industry focus in the design, development, integration, and testing of software for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) .Job Description:TSC's AISR Division is actively recruiting a dynamic S oftware Engineer to support development and testing of flight components for a Group 4 /5 U AV . An ideal candidate is s elf-directed and motivated , with experience in the development of software programming for autonomous vehicles, electromechanical devices , and aerospace/aviation platforms . Candidates with relevant technical experience, demonstrated development capabilities, and problem-solving skills are encouraged to apply. The selected individual will program design components, help b ring-up and test prototypes, and integrate them into UA S platforms with a multi- disciplinary team . A s a key engineering position within the development and test team, the UAS Engineer will have up to 1 0% travel time to development site s and test ranges . Other duties may be assigned as new technologies and capabilities are deployed.This position requires a hands-on individual with experience in development , integration, and test of embedded systems and autonomous vehicle control systems , including payload integration, sensor integration, and programming, wire harness design, enclosure building, testing, and electrical analysis . TSC ’s AISR team designs, builds, and operates a family of long endurance UAS sustaining 24/7 operations at multiple sites around the world. This position requires an individual familiar with electronics and application readiness to apply design principles to all phases of UAS product life cycle, from initial development through operations. An individual in this position needs to learn and know the electrical and sensor systems on UAS and utilize his/her engineering skills to develop tangible solutions to meet rapid timelines and create successful electrical design outcomes .Responsibilities:Write and maintain clean, well-documented , efficient code for embedded systemsAssist in debugging and testing a larger codebase with a multi-developer team . Conduct developmental test to identify/fix issuesSupport pieces of detailed software system and development activities for UAS platforms , including upfront analysis, prototyping, end item development and evaluation in laboratory and field test environmentsCollaborate with multi-disciplinary team locally and across physical locationsWork with product owners to build software solutions for corresponding requirementsC reate workable software solutions in rapid timeline to support requirements and troubleshoot real world challengesRequired Qualifications:Associate/ Bachelor’s degree in C omputer S cience , Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, M echatronics , Aerospace engineering, or a related field .US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD security clearanceProficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, MATLAB , Jav aScriptExperience with embedded systems for autonomous vehicle s.Software engineering foundation : strong understanding of core concepts including design of data structures , algorithm application, analysis, optimization, and testingApplied mathematics, differential equations , linear algebra, and statisticsBasic software programming of electrical components, retrieval and evaluation of data, changing code and settings on devicesAbility to communicate effectively in engineering environment, document and explain your work to othersPreferred Qualifications:Hands on experience writing computer code for applications to control physical devices from initial development to deployment .Significant experience developing software for unmanned and autonomous vehicles , including air vehiclesE xperience designing , building, and testing electr ical subsystems for an airborne platformDesign and integration of software control programs in electromechanical systemsDemonstrated technical expertise, attention to detail, precision engineering standards.Possess excellent organizational and communications skillsAble to prioritize work and maximize personal and team productivityTSC Benefits:TSC offers a stable work environment, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefit package; including ESOP participation, 401k Plan, Flexible Work Schedules, Tuition Reimbursement, Co-Sponsored Health Plan, Paid Leave and much more.Applying to TSC:Only those candidates invited for an interview will be contacted.
