Job description

Position Overview
  • Department: OrthoSports
  • Schedule: Full Time Evenings M - F 12pm -8:30pm
  • Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

What You Will Do
Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
  • Assists the operating room staff including the anesthesia providers with certain technical aspects of patient care.
  • Monitors and controls the operating room environment. Cleans and disinfects the surgical suite
    and/or reusable equipment and supplies. Disposes soiled linen and solid wastes. Cleans
    anesthetizing location. Cares for ancillary anesthesia equipment.
  • Transports patients, equipment, instruments, specimens and supplies.
  • Lifts and positions patients according to practice standards. Demonstrates an awareness of patient and personal safety.
  • Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
    Documents necessary records.
  • Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such
    asoxygen setup, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
  • Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
