  • Schedule: PRN Days and Nights
  • Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East

4 Surgical is an 18 bed unit specializing in patients undergoing orthopedic, bariatric, and neurosurgical procedures.

The hospital is the leading joint replacement procedural area within UAB St. Vincent's, with world class orthopedic and bariatric surgeons who use the cutting edge of joint replacement, bariatric, and neurosurgery technology. This fast-paced unit specializes in quick turnarounds following surgery, with our dedicated nurses and physicians providing care that is guided by excellence and is centered on the needs of our patient population.

4 Surgical offers a beautiful and highly organized floor with spacious patient rooms, generous nurse:pct:patient ratios, opportunities for growth, and strong leadership support. Our guiding principle is that we provide the best care in the hospital to every patient, every shift, every time. More than a motto, this principle guides everything we do.


Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required. One Year of Nursing Experience Required
