The Role

As Lead Control System Software Engineer - Libraries & Standards you will lead the architecture, development, and governance of global PLC and HMI standards , building reusable software libraries across Rockwell and Siemens platforms. This role focuses on driving consistency, scalability, and adoption of standardized control system practices across global engineering teams. You will also help modernize engineering workflows through improved tooling, testing, and development practices.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of standardized PLC and HMI libraries (AOIs, FBs, UDTs, faceplates, Global Objects) for global reuse

  • Drive global standardization efforts across PLC, HMI, SCADA, and related automation technologies

  • Define and enforce software architecture standards , including naming conventions, diagnostics, error handling, and scalability

  • Govern versioning, releases, and backlog management , including regression testing and backward compatibility

  • Establish and promote modern development practices (code reviews, version control, CI/CD concepts, testing frameworks)

  • Collaborate with and influence global engineering teams to adopt standards and transition legacy systems

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in PLC software development with a focus on modular or reusable architectures

  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell (Studio 5000) and/or Siemens (TIA Portal) platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, WinCC) and aligned standards (faceplates, alarms, diagnostics)

  • Exposure to modern development tools and practices (Git, testing approaches, CI/CD concepts)

  • Familiarity with ISA/IEC standards , industrial cybersecurity, or IIoT/data platforms (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, OSI PI)

  • Understanding of OT-IT architectures, DMZs, VLANs, networking and industrial gateways.
