Location: North Houston – 77073 
Job Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, DOE
 
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to join a growing international logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in U.S. Customs regulations, import documentation, and entry processing. This position is responsible for preparing and submitting customs entries, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the import process.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process customs entries for air, ocean, and ground import shipments.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
  • Coordinate with importers, customs officials, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to facilitate cargo clearance.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve customs holds, examinations, and clearance issues.
  • Calculate duties, taxes, and fees as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment status, customs requirements, and compliance issues.
  • Stay current on customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and industry changes.
  • Support post-entry audits, corrections, protests, and reconciliations when necessary.
 
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of Customs Entry Writing experience.
Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
Experience classifying products using HTS codes.
Familiarity with ABI systems and customs brokerage software.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple entries and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
