Developers in this role write scalable, maintainable code and collaborate with teams to build robust software solutions.

What does a TypeScript developer do?

TypeScript Developers are primarily responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable web applications using TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks. Their daily tasks often include writing clean, type-safe code, participating in code reviews, debugging and optimizing applications, and collaborating closely with UX/UI designers, backend developers, and quality assurance teams. They also play a role in implementing new features, updating existing functionality, and ensuring projects meet best practices in code quality and testing. This collaborative environment helps integrate different parts of the application and keeps the development process efficient and well-coordinated.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the TypeScript position?

To thrive as a TypeScript Developer, you need strong programming skills in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with a solid understanding of modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, and a relevant computer science degree or equivalent experience. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, quantitative analysts, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a financial environment.

Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, maintainable code backed by comprehensive automated tests using React Testing Library / Jest, with strong unit and integration coverage.
Technical Debt & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and resolve defects, reduce technical debt, and champion software engineering best practices across the codebase.
Collaboration & Delivery: Coordinate across the full stack — data, services, APIs, and infrastructure — to deliver end-to-end.
Design & Code Reviews: Actively contribute to architecture discussions, pull request reviews, and technical documentation with a focus on thoughtful, scalable design.
Required Qualifications·
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, including component architecture, state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or React Query), and API integration.
2–3 years of experience with Git in a collaborative, team-based development workflow (branching strategies, PRs, code reviews). ·
Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business conversations.
Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications·
Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Familiarity with relational databases and writing complex SQL queries.
Experience with message brokers or event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) in a financial services context.
Experience developing a Spring Boot backend
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipeline tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
Experience using JIRA or similar tools for Agile planning, sprint tracking, and delivery management.
Prior experience in financial services, capital markets, or fintech environments.
Proficiency with shell scripting for automation, deployment support, and operational troubleshooting.
