Job description

The Power Generation Tech is responsible for performing various mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on offshore facilities, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems.


  • Properly terminate medium voltage equipment such as motors, VFDs, starters, MCCs, and generators.
  • Work with and direct assistants as needed, ensuring safe operations.
  • Maintain physical fitness to perform job duties effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with customers on job locations and manage jobs without supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low and medium voltage equipment such as motors, motor starters, generators, VFDs, MCCs, and switchgears.
  • Participate in safety training and assist in procedures such as first aid, CPR, fire drills, and emergency evacuation.
  • Travel to work sites via marine or helicopter transport as required.
  • Provide account manager support via phone and email.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on department equipment.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
  • Take proper care of test instruments and tools in their care.

  • Experienced with low voltage systems and generators.
  • Full knowledge and awareness of medium voltage safety procedures.
  • Possess a solid understanding of electrical practices and theory for low and medium voltage systems.
  • May need to reside at the worksite on a predetermined schedule.
  • 3-5 years of experience with medium voltage systems (2100VAC-13800VAC).
  • 3+ years of offshore/inland power generation electrical experience.
  • Valid TWIC card.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.
  • Willing to work on-call shifts and be available for work 24/7.
  • Comfortable with heights and flying, as the position involves working on both land and offshore projects.
