What is TWIC card work?

TWIC card work refers to jobs that require employees to have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. The TWIC card is an identification credential issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to workers who need unescorted access to secure areas of maritime facilities and vessels in the United States. Typical TWIC card jobs include longshoremen, truck drivers transporting goods to and from ports, and port facility workers. Holding a TWIC card demonstrates that an individual has passed a thorough background check and is authorized for security-sensitive work in maritime environments.
