Job description

The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented and deadline-driven, as well as very comfortable learning and using program scheduling and playout systems both on-site and remotely. As this is a 24-hour a day news service, this individual would be on-call to support breaking news or off-hour playlist changes as needed.
YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

  • Schedule all long-form programming for streaming news service based on strategic direction from supervisor.
  • Develop fluency in using the scheduling software and executing workflows for a flawless on-air experience.
  • Create, capture, and edit all content metadata in systems as needed.
  • Generate and maintain schedule grids (24 hour and weekly) for internal distribution and on Sharepoint.
  • Help prepare and distribute weekly programming notifications, such as premieres, TV listings and updates.
  • Maintain internal and external distribution lists for programming department.
  • Create, maintain, and set program formats on the grid level as well as live or server events. Review formats on a quarterly basis and make recommendations for revisions as needed to support business objectives.
  • Cutting clips from the programs to create segments for program reruns and preparing clips for social media distribution.
  • Monitor the Network Playout and adjust as needed for breaking news and content issues.
  • Be available on call after hours and weekends as necessary to revise playlist, trigger breaking news or support News team needs.
  • Produce work orders for promotional materials that communicate strategy, objectives and deadlines.
  • Schedule all short form elements including promos, graphics, news briefs and crawls.
  • Execute and track promotional and advertising campaigns for internal and external clients and generate reports (AS-RUNS).
  • Partner with News Production, Art Department, Ad Sales, Marketing, Business Affairs and Content Management.
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments as needed.
YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a broadcast/cable television or digital environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of Program Scheduling, Playlist Management, Media Planning, Promo Scheduling or similar experience
  • Self-starter, resourceful, adaptable and able to work well under pressure and on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to be on-call after regular business hours and weekends.
