Job Summary/Description:

Gray Media is looking for an Associate Cloud Engineer to join the Gray Digital Development CloudOps team. This role will work alongside our Staff Engineer and development teams to help design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Cloud Engineer will assist developers in safely deploying applications, improving reliability, and building scalable cloud architecture for both public-facing products and internal platforms. This position is fully remote.

This role is intended for an early-career to mid-level cloud engineer who has experience working in AWS and is looking to expand their skills in Infrastructure as Code, cloud automation, CI/CD, and platform operations. The position will work closely with senior engineers and development teams to build and support scalable cloud platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve AWS cloud infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers and established architectural standards.

• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, AWS CDK, and related automation frameworks.

• Support cloud-native AWS services and platform components, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Cognito, and related services.

• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, and related automation tools.

• Configure and monitor logging, metrics, alerting, and operational reporting using CloudWatch and related observability tools.

• Implement secure cloud configurations, including IAM roles, policies, authentication services, and least-privilege access controls.

• Collaborate with developers to support infrastructure deployments, maintain infrastructure standards, and improve application reliability.

• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, deployment, and operational issues across development and production environments.

• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, peer reviews, and continuous improvement efforts related to cloud services and deployments.

• Contribute to cloud governance, infrastructure documentation, operational best practices, and cost optimization initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 1-3 years of hands-on experience working with AWS in a professional, educational, internship, or production environment

• Experience working with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, or similar cloud-native technologies

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or similar frameworks

• Experience using Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration, and deployment workflows

• Experience troubleshooting deployments, cloud services, or application-related issues

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability concepts using tools such as CloudWatch

• Basic understanding of web applications, APIs, authentication, and cloud security concepts

• Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate across multiple teams

Preferred (but not required):

• AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps Administrator, or similar)

• Experience with CI/CD automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation

• Experience writing scripts or automation using Python, TypeScript, Bash, or similar languages

• Experience working with containerized workloads such as Docker or Kubernetes

• Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud cost optimization practices, or cloud governance concepts
