Tv Guide information

What is a TV guide?

A TV guide is a resource that provides information about television programming, including schedules, channels, show descriptions, and air times. It helps viewers plan what to watch by listing upcoming shows, movies, and special events on various TV networks. TV guides are available in print, online, and through interactive electronic program guides on televisions or streaming devices. They often include features such as recommendations, reviews, and the ability to set reminders for favorite programs.

What are the main challenges faced by TV Guide editors when keeping schedules accurate and up to date?

TV Guide editors often face the challenge of managing last-minute programming changes, such as live events running over time or networks making sudden schedule adjustments. Staying in close communication with broadcasters and leveraging reliable scheduling software are essential to ensure accuracy. Editors must also carefully fact-check information and work efficiently under tight deadlines to minimize errors, as even small inaccuracies can impact readers' viewing plans. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to keep pace with the fast-moving television industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a TV guide, and why are they important?

To thrive as a TV Guide Editor or Listings Coordinator, you need strong editorial skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of television programming, often supported by a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), scheduling software, and databases is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, adaptability, and clear communication help ensure accuracy and timely updates in a fast-paced environment. These skills are crucial for delivering reliable, user-friendly TV schedules to audiences and maintaining the publication's reputation.

Teamwork makes the stream work.
Roku is changing how the world watches TV
Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. This role requires strong technical intuition to assess the feasibility, complexity, and scalability of new builds, as well as experience with non-subscription monetization models such as advertising and partnerships.
You will operate with executive-level visibility and have the opportunity to shape the future of interactive entertainment on one of the world's largest streaming platforms. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments and brings a builder mentality, creative thinking, and a passion for innovation at scale.
For California Only - The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $220,000 - $250,000 annually. What you'll be doing
  • Define and own the product roadmap for platform-native interactive content experiences on Roku
  • Translate creative concepts and business opportunities into clear product requirements, user stories, and prioritized backlogs
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to evaluate technical feasibility, complexity, and timelines for new feature builds
  • Partner with content, advertising, and business teams to develop monetization strategies beyond subscriptions, including ads, sponsorships, and partnerships
  • Work cross-functionally with UX designers, engineers, and content producers across San Jose and Santa Monica to deliver cohesive product experiences
  • Build reusable product frameworks and toolkits that other Roku teams can leverage for future interactive initiatives
  • Drive product development from ideation through launch, iterating based on data, user feedback, and business performance
  • Present product strategy, progress, and results to executive leadership with clarity and confidence
  • Stay current on emerging trends in interactive media, gaming, generative AI, and cross-platform storytelling to inform the product vision
  • Champion a culture of experimentation and rapid prototyping within the team

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to assess and build complexity, make informed tradeoffs, and communicate effectively with engineering teams
  • Demonstrated experience with non-subscription monetization models, including advertising, sponsorships, or content-driven revenue strategies
  • Familiarity with interactive media, cross-platform storytelling, or innovative content formats
  • Experience working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where creative problem-solving and independent judgment are essential
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across content, engineering, and business teams
  • Ability to synthesize user insights, market trends, and business data into a compelling product vision
  • Advanced and demonstrable skills with generative AI tools or workflows applied to content creation or product development
  • Passion for entertainment, streaming, and creating experiences that delight viewers

How will I use AI at Roku?
At Roku, we don't just use AI, we work with it. AI agents and smart tools help power drafts, analysis, and repetitive workflows, while our people bring direction, judgment, and accountability. We're looking for curious, adaptable builders who can show how they've used AI or automation to move faster, raise the bar, and scale their impact. We value your AI skills if have built fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain - coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks. And you can describe projects where you shipped real work with these tools. You know how to drive an agent, verify its output, and ramp on an unfamiliar codebase with an agent helping you.

What's Roku's approach to hybrid working?
Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays are generally flexible for remote work, except for employees whose specific roles or assigned office location require five days' a week attendance.
What are some of the benefits?
Roku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families. Accommodations
Roku welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations and adjustments in accordance with applicable law. If you require reasonable accommodation at any point in the hiring process, please direct your inquiries to EmployeeRelations@Roku.com.
What should I know about Roku's culture?
Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
