This position reports to the Coordinator of the TC for the management and operation of the TC labs, providing an open, efficient and professional lab environment for students enrolled at A-B Tech. The primary focus of this position is the provision of quality tutoring and assistance to A-B Tech students. The Science Tutoring Lab in the Tutoring Center provides tutoring and individual assistance to A-B Tech students within the Education department. Assistants assist students with acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in their coursework. Assistants work directly with the students in a fast-paced, busy lab. Assistants provide tutoring to students of various abilities and backgrounds. Assistants supervise tutoring lab Aides and Peer Tutors. Assistants implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech policies, procedures and guidelines while providing professional, helpful, and reliable assistance to students.
Duties
1. Provide professional tutorial services in Biology courses.
2. Supervise lab aides and peer tutors as needed.
3. Supervise lab activities.
4. Assist instructors and department chairs as requested.
5. Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff to troubleshoot and solve problems related to the lab environment. Provide customer service.
6. Occasional data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
7. Provide a positive environment for student learning.
8. Implement and enforce A-B Tech regulations, including the prevention of unauthorized persons from using lab facilities and equipment.
9. Other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator.

Minimum Requirements
1. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) with significant coursework in Biology or related field;
2. Excellent human relations skills;
3. Patience and the ability to multi-task;
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
5. Willingness to continue learning to keep up with the latest innovations and/or technologies;
6. Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.
7. Work experience in an educational lab environment.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Biology or related field;
2. At least 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting;
3. Familiarity with AB Tech's campus and curriculum
Special Instructions to Applicants

If selected for hire, official sealed transcripts from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Department of Education or official transcript evaluation (required if the degree was attained outside the US) from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) recognized organization, are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.
