Summary:

Join our Nursing Program's team and play a vital role in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. As an Instructional Technician II, you'll help create realistic, hands-on learning experiences by managing cutting-edge simulation technology, maintaining a safe and organized lab environment, and supporting faculty and students every day. Salary:

Starting salary is $4,957 per month which is based on $59,480; $28.49 per hour

Under general direction the Instructional Technician II will perform the following tasks:

  • Assist with day-to-day activities and services of the nursing lab area, including lab set up, management of lab equipment and supplies
    1. Prepping lab materials
      • Getting supplies on carts and into the classrooms
      • Assisting with set up as needed
    2. Completing the daily task checklist or complete delegation of tasks
  • Operate equipment such as low, medium, and high-fidelity human patient simulators, lab media equipment/systems, and Simulation Scenario Checklist set up and
  • Completing the Sim Checklist
  • Completing the set up per the Sim Scenario Supply Checklist
  • Assist with the development of simulation scenarios
    1. Participating in Sim Team meeting as needed
    2. Providing feedback on scenario progressions
    3. Providing feedback on simulation environment
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in order and secure before leaving the laboratory
    1. Simulation Checklist for simulation shut down
    2. End of day locking doors
  • Maintain area for cleanliness as well as safety; oversee sanitation of lab equipment and areas
  • Act as a safety officer as required
  • Train faculty on proper handling of equipment and materials and arranging trainings from vendors as necessary
  • Maintain/update Equipment Tracker and Maintenance Log and supplies
  • Maintain/update Inventory Location Sheet for easy acquisition
  • Requisition equipment as necessary
  • Order supplies as necessary
  • Replacement or additional and contact appropriate services
  • Make simple repairs and perform minor maintenance to lab equipment according to lab equipment manuals or contract vendors for appropriate repairs as needed
  • Identify occurrences of equipment malfunction or breakage and needs for equipment
  • Assist instructor in individualized and group instruction and use of the equipment in occupational and other instructional classes
  • Proctor standardized tests to students
  • May coordinate the work of Instructional Technician I
  • Direct and instruct student assistants in the Daily Task List
  • Direct Peer Tutors
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to learn state and federal policies related to the awarding of credit and awarding of degrees; Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and Intercollege Relations Commission (ICRC) guidelines and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a Washington State Background Check
  • An Associate Degree, a vocational certificate or Bachelor's Degree in related instructional program area

OR

  • Two years of college course work in major study area

AND

  • Two years of experience in the related program area

OR

  • Equivalent education/experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly;
  • Experience maintaining an inventory and ordering supplies;
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems such as Canvas;
  • Knowledge of healthcare equipment, supplies, and technology;
  • Prior experience in healthcare

Physical Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting varying from 4-7 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times

Starting salary is $4,957 per month which is based on $59,480; $28.49 per hour

Work schedule:

This position's hours will vary based on 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A regular schedule will be finalized upon hire based. Candidate must be willing and able to work on-site.

This position will receive prorated leave based on the BEST CBA:

  • 8 hours per month of sick leave
  • 10.75 starting at hours per month of vacation leave
  • 24 hours of personal leave per calendar year
  • 13 paid state/college holidays per calendar year
