Turing information

What type of projects and clients can Turing engineers expect to work with?

Turing engineers are connected with clients ranging from fast-growing startups to large enterprises across a wide variety of industries, such as fintech, e-commerce, health tech, and more. The nature of projects can vary—some may involve building new applications from scratch, while others might focus on optimizing or extending existing systems. Engineers typically collaborate with remote teams in agile environments, requiring adaptability and clear virtual communication. This diversity gives you a chance to build a broad portfolio, gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and enhance your skills through challenging assignments.

What is a Turing job?

A Turing job is a remote software engineering position offered through Turing.com, a platform that connects developers with top companies worldwide. Turing uses AI-driven matching to pair engineers with roles that fit their skills, experience, and preferences. These jobs are typically long-term, full-time positions with competitive salaries and opportunities to work with leading tech firms without needing to relocate.

Is working at Turing worth it?

Turing offers remote software engineering roles that typically require strong technical skills and proficiency in tools like Git and cloud platforms. Employees report competitive pay, flexible schedules, and opportunities for skill development, making it a viable option for qualified developers. However, individual experiences vary based on role and expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Turing position, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Turing engineer (a software engineer employed by Turing), you typically need a strong background in computer science, software development, and proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and experience with remote collaboration tools are common technical requirements; certifications in software development can be a plus. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are crucial for collaborating with distributed teams and adapting to diverse project needs. These abilities enable you to deliver high-quality code, collaborate effectively in a remote environment, and thrive in demanding, fast-paced tech projects.

Job description

Remote contract for PhDs in Physics, Applied Physics, or related fields. Work on cutting-edge projects with top AI labs while earning $100+/hour, fully remote, with flexible weekly hours. No AI experience required.

Role Overview:
Help fine-tune large language models (like ChatGPT) using your physics skills. You’ll design problems, check how well AI solves them, and work with researchers to build better benchmarks.

Responsibilities:
  • Design advanced physics problems to test AI performance (e.g., mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics).
  • Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with rigorous logic.
  • Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and quality of reasoning.
  • Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks across undergraduate to PhD-level physics topics.

Requirements:
  • PhD (pursuing or completed) in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong physics reasoning and problem-solving skills across advanced domains.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly in writing and provide structured feedback.
  • No AI experience required.

Perks:
  • Fully remote, flexible work.
  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.

Offer Details:
  • Pay rate: $100+/hour (depends on role and candidate expertise).
  • Assessment: Shortlisted experts complete an evaluation before selection.
  • Assignments: Contract roles with defined start/end dates; up to 40 hrs/week.
