Job description

Racing Security Officer

Security Officers at Turfway Park will help maintain a safe and secure environment for team members, horsemen and guests. Essential duties and responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of team members and customers, controlling access to restricted areas, reacting to patron and employee incidents and accidents, monitoring access to the grounds, checking for and reporting safety hazards, and patrolling the barn and dorm areas. Other duties may include operating a company vehicle and/or equipment that require a valid Driver's License.

Required skills and abilities include maintaining interpersonal working relationships, basic PC skills, oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of the Emergency Disaster Plan Manual. Education and experience preferred include a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain a valid racing license. Prerequisites include availability to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.

Physical requirements include sitting or standing, walking, using hands to handle objects, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and the employee is subjected to circulate throughout the assigned areas, including outdoor.
