General Summary Under general direction of the Sports Turf Manager, the Sports Turf Foreman works at various BREC facilities, performing and leading other staff in general maintenance, preparation, cleanliness, and care of select BREC sports fields, complexes, and stadiums. Requirements and Job Specifications Education Required: H.S. Diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree

Area of Study (Major) Required: N/A Preferred: Turfgrass Management, Soil Sciences/Agronomy, Horticulture, Sports Turf Management or closely related field Certification(s) Required: Class 3 Turf and Ornamental Pesticide Applicator's License. License(s) Required: Valid LA Class E Driver's License. Preferred: Valid Class A, B, or D Commercial Driver's License.

Years Relevant Work Experience: Two (2) years related supervisory experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Preferred: Five (5) or more years related experience.

Record keeping and scheduling skills Skill in the operation of athletic field and maintenance equipment Comprehensive knowledge of football set-up, layout, and field management Skill in the use of a computer Strong interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflict and foster positive/productive team environment Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities Ability to operate a BREC vehicle to perform essential job tasks Ability to maintain written reports Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Ability to instruct and train employees Ability to read plans and blueprints Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public Functions and Duties Essential Functions and Duties: Prioritizes, schedules, and manages work orders and daily tasks for assigned area.

Organizes work to meet routine and non-routine demands and deadlines. Coordinates with and inspects the work of third-party vendors for contract services Approves purchases and invoices for assigned area. Ensures proper record keeping and task reporting for assigned staff and facilities.

Reviews and approves payroll time records. Manages inventory control for all assets assigned. Estimates personnel needs to address and complete essential duties.

Inspects parks, facilities, and other amenities and responds appropriately. Makes recommendations for personnel needs and changes. Ensures maximum efficiency from staff and equipment.

Conducts training sessions as required. Promotes information and communication, both internally and externally. Ensures safety and security processes are followed.

Communicates with patrons and other department staff to resolve conflicts. Operate, troubleshoot, update, and program turf tank autonomous GPS paint robot. Coordinates with other department staff for scheduling and maintenance needs for events, tournaments, and/or games.

Purchases needed materials and supplies. Supervises, instructs, trains and directs employees with a working knowledge athletic field maintenance practices and operation activities. Oversees safe, appropriate and timely calculation, mixing, application, and record keeping of all chemical and fertilizer applications of Spray Tech and employees according to LA, EPA, and Federal laws, regulations, and BREC standards.

Oversees safe, appropriate and timely inspection, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and operation of all BREC irrigation and sports field drainage systems in coordination and supervision of Irrigation Tech. Assumes role of Sports Turf Manager in his/her absence. Secondary Job Duties Provides reports and information to supervisors as required, in timely fashion.

Maintains awareness of activities occurring in assigned areas. Promotes attention to detail throughout assigned area. Ensures that the work unit stays focused and maximizes available resources, efficiency and effectiveness.

Ability to maintain, trouble shoot, and Operation of a variety of park and sports turf maintenance equipment as needed. Works with Sports Turf Manager and employees to build a functional team environment, proper and effective training, and handling employee relations. Assists Sports Turf Manager with employee performance appraisals.
