The District Sales Manager is responsible for building and developing an established dealership network that expands growth of the Ventrac product line.  This position will support strategic goals of the company and will build and maintain strong relationships with their Ventrac dealerships/customers. This job involves a business advisor relationship-based approach that allows us to create a positive and informative experience by exceeding expectations and demonstrating outstanding product knowledge, along with a world class customer service experience with every interaction for each dealership.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:​​​

  • Build healthy and productive communication within and outside of Ventrac for our OPE dealership partners.
  • Monitor dealer’s business health and guide their business plans to be successful with Ventrac product, ensuring strategies that increase market share yearly.
  • Actively solve problems and issues within assigned territory.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
  • Identify gaps within their area of responsibility and work with the Dealer Development Managers to onboard new OPE dealership opportunities.
  • Direct and coordinate activities involving sales of manufactured products.
  • Actively review and advise dealer channel inventory levels and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Monitor dealer sales to determine effectiveness of dealer’s sales force.
  • Plan and Coordinate training such as:
    • Product /Demo training
    • Programs Implementation
    • Marketing-Network
  • Develop strategies/plans of actions for Ventrac products to be sold within each dealership and hold the dealership accountable to those plans and outcomes.
  • Attend and supporting dealerships activities such as tradeshows, open houses, etc.
  • Confer with potential customers regarding purchasing requirements per contracts.
  • Be field expert in territory regarding marketing and product needs, yearly sales programs, dealer development programs, overall sales strategy and other areas that can improve Ventrac.

What Do You Need?  

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  ​

  • HS Diploma required; Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
  • Sales experience in the turf or dealership market.
  • Level determined by years and industry experience:
  • DSM I = 3+ years of business experience minimally required
  • DSM II = 5+ years of business experience minimally required
  • DSM III =  7+ years of business experience minimally required 
  • Demonstrated long term customer relationship.
  • Must enjoy building and nurturing long term business relationships.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Overall travel is expected to be approximately 50%-75% annually; travel will require overnights and some weekends away from home. Position will report remotely in the territory. #LI-Remote.
  • Must be willing and capable to trailer, load, unload and demonstrate equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – professional, courteous, friendly and helpful.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Successfully demonstrated - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including phone communication.
  • Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiners Certification.
  • Must be able to be insured by VPI’s auto insurance carrier.
