Job description

Purpose
Performs mobile pre-delivery inspections and on-site equipment diagnostics, service repair and maintenance work in line with the turf service programs. May require some direction or guidance from the Location Service Manager, Service Writer, or Lead Technician.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a high level of on-site service on all makes of Turf equipment.
  • Actively promote and sell dealership specific mobile service programs directly to customers.
  • Coordinate with Location Service Manager and Service Writer to establish and implement effective processes for all Turf services offered through dealership specific service programs.
  • Review and explain any maintenance, repair, or other service concerns directly with the customer and documents on work order.
  • Establish and implement effective stocking processes with the Parts department to maintain the proper seasonal parts inventory in the vehicle.
  • Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Properly operate and maintain condition of mobile service vehicle, trailer, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Timely complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Account for all time and material used in performing assigned duties.
  • May support and promote the Ready-To-Mow program.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's degree preferred
  • 1+ years' experience performing service repairs
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of turf equipment
  • Proficient knowledge of selling techniques
  • Ability to use Service Advisor, Microsoft Office applications, and basic computer functions
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Basic Service Technician certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License), forklift license preferred
  • Driving record that meets Employer's insurance company requirements

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the team member is required to talk and hear. The team member is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The team member is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
This position will require the team member to work in an office environment, in a vehicle repair facility, and in the field. In this position the team member will be exposed to engine and grinding noise.
