Job description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for a Turf Groundskeeper to assist with turf and grounds maintenance at the University Athletic Association, Inc. athletic venues. This includes but is not limited to: operating reel mowers; carrying out fertilization programs, spray schedules, and watering requirements; and performing facility and equipment maintenance.

This position requires the incumbent to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with coaching staff, coworkers, student-athletes, fans, and vendors; follow directions and adhere to work schedules; occasionally lift up to 60 pounds and sustain the weight of a 34 pound backpack blower for extended periods of time; be efficient, flexible, detail-oriented, and self-motivated; work independently and as part of a collaborative team; multitask effectively; engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds; and work a non-standard work week which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED*
  • One year of grounds maintenance experience*
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Horticulture/Agronomy or a related field
  • Florida Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators License
  • Knowledge of soccer pitches and applicable maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of infield clay(s)/skinned areas and applicable maintenance practices
  • Experience working on small engines and mowers

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of listed requirement.
