Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this job is the day-to-day handling of customer accounts, which includes order processing, order solicitation, and general account management. This position works closely with Account Managers and management to acquire new business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle customer calls and place orders for the companyโ€™s entire line of products.
  • Utilize the mainframe computer system to access information and input data.
  • Manage the pricing and expediting of orders; effectively schedule customer deliveries.
  • Have a good understanding of Company products, pricing policies, competitive market, and mill sources.
  • Develop formal quotes in response to customer inquiries.
  • Handle returns, credits, and adjustments.
  • Use problem-solving skills to deal with customer concerns, which are sometimes difficult and require a high degree of tact and good judgment.
  • Purchase products and services when needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Self-starter who can generate sales and profit.
  • Inside sales and/or customer service experience is required; candidates with experience in the steel industry are highly preferred; industrial sales experience is necessary.
  • The position also requires good communication and organizational skills, professional telephone skills, and solid computer skills, with experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A Bachelorโ€™s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience in steel distribution or a related industry highly preferred.

Working environment/physical demands:

  • Office environment/no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
  • Occasionally exposed warehouse working conditions and surroundings, while wearing the required PPE.
