Job description

TSC is currently seeking aDirector of Engineeringfor the Product Solutions division, based inHuntsville, ALwith an educational and/or DoW industry focus in the processes and procedures to manage multi-discipline engineering teams on advanced RF-based payloads & sensor systems through the product lifecyclewithin DoW-related programs.

TSC's PS Division provides products and services in the areas of radar, communication systems, sensors, antennas and other electronics systems to the rocket/missile, radar/sensor system, communications, control systems, data acquisition, and signal processing markets. TSC has developed products ranging from board-level, application-specific-designs, to complete, turnkey radar and communication systems. TSC has established a state-of-the-art hardware capability that is well respected by customers in Government and industry.

Responsibilities:

This position requires a flexible individual with experience in product development, demonstration, transition to production, fielding, and lifecycle sustainment. This position requires experience leading engineering teams through the product lifecycle process to include initial concept development and prototypes throughproductiontransition. The individual in this role will lead thecontinuous improvement around the engineering processes andindustry-best practices to ensure consistency and compliance with the product-focused projects and programs. TheDirector ofEngineering works with business leaders, engineering staff, production, and product owners to conceive, develop, test, produce, and sustain products across multiple product lines.

  • Define, modify, and implement engineering development processes and best practices for the division that follow industry standards such as AS9100 and fit into TSC's existing quality systems

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team of systems, hardware, mechanical, software, and firmware engineers to build complete solutions and products

  • Assist in developing and maintaining staffing plans to support the product business

  • Collaborate with product owners and product managers to develop and assess technical feasibility, schedule, and cost for product development roadmaps

  • Provide resources necessary to implement product roadmap features

  • Support the production team with resources to enable the successful transition of technology into manufacturing

  • Provide and support technical oversight of engineering efforts

  • Provide technical and career growth opportunities for the engineering staff aligned with the product business

  • De-conflict resources through collaboration with business leaders, product management, and engineering staff

  • Support quality team to enact continuous improvement of engineering processes

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering and minimum 15 years of experience in DoD industry

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

  • Experience with the following:

  • 5+ years management of multi-disciplinary engineering team

  • Product deliveries and support to USG and FVEY partners

  • Operating within AS9100 or ISO9001 business management structure

  • Demonstrated technical leadership and subject matter expertise.

  • Demonstrated experience in developingand deploying engineering processes and practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess excellent organizational and communications skills.

  • Able to prioritize work and maximize productivity.

  • Experience with radar, SIGINT, and/or electronic warfare product development

  • Engineering development experience in electrical, mechanical, or software engineering

  • Experience managing resources across different geographical areas.

  • Experience working in both DoW and commercial industry.

  • Experience in qualifying and transitioning a design/product from engineering to production.

  • Experience developing, improving engineering and engineering management processes.
