Job description

Location: Washington, DC (FEMA HQ, 500 C St SW) with telework as required

Position Overview

The DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester evaluates online course materials, software, and web-based content for conformance with Section 508 accessibility requirements using DHS-approved testing processes and tools. Provides remediation guidance to training partners and participates in community-of-practice discussions on accessibility topics. This is a full-time Key Personnel position.

Job Functions

Review and test online course materials, software, and web-based content for Section 508 compliance using DHS-approved evaluation processes

Produce 508 test results that identify and document accessibility defects

Develop Section 508 remediation plans outlining identified defects, strategies for resolution, and estimated completion timeframes

Provide consultation throughout the development lifecycle using virtual meeting tools such as screen sharing to demonstrate findings and suggest remediation strategies

Facilitate bi-weekly Section 508 discussions providing a forum for training partners to address common questions and share best practices

Host webinars covering topics related to Section 508 and accessibility, selected based on identified needs or new developments

Test each component/file individually using methods and tools appropriate for the format, with each component individually addressed in the reporting process
