Job Details:
Role: Trusted Tester Level I (Web Tester)
Location: Remote (occasional on-site to Springfield, VA 22150)
Duration : 12+ months
Visa Status : US Citizen
Pay Rate : $45 - $50/hr in C2C
Security: Must meet DHS suitability and Entry on Duty requirements; work may involve Sensitive But Unclassified information
Position summary
Conduct Section 508 conformance testing of Information and Communications Technology using the current DHS-approved assessment methodology, test tools, and reporting formats. Produce accurate, complete test results that follow DHS Trusted Tester Version 5.0 or later requirements.
Key responsibilities
  • Perform Section 508 testing of web-based ICT using the DHS Trusted Tester Section 508 Conformance Test Process for Web, Version 5.0 or later.
  • Use current DHS-approved assessment methods, testing tools, and report formats.
  • Document test procedures, findings, defects, evidence, and conformance results accurately and completely.
  • Coordinate with senior testers and accessibility SMEs to resolve test-method questions and maintain consistency.
  • Maintain current DHS Trusted Tester certification throughout task-order performance.
  • Protect DHS information and follow all security, privacy, and contractor-conduct requirements.

Mandatory qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of the Revised Section 508 Standards.
  • Current DHS Trusted Tester certification, Version 5.0 or later.
  • At least one year of accessibility testing experience.
  • Ability to meet DHS suitability and Entry on Duty requirements.

Preferred qualifications
  • Hands-on experience testing complex websites or web applications against WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA and Section 508 requirements.
  • Experience with manual keyboard testing, screen readers, browser developer tools, color-contrast tools, and DHS Trusted Tester reporting artifacts.
  • Experience writing actionable defects with clear steps, evidence, applicable success criteria, and remediation guidance.
  • Federal Government or DHS accessibility-testing experience.
