Reporting to the General Counsel, the Paralegal plays a key role in supporting Assisted Living Alberta's Legal team by providing legal, governance, and administrative expertise in a fast-paced and evolving healthcare environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to legal operations that support continuing care services across Alberta while working closely with lawyers, operational leaders, internal stakeholders, and the Board Office. As a trusted member of the Legal team, you will assist with the preparation and management of contracts, agreements, legal correspondence, and governance documentation. You will conduct legal and factual research, support risk management and compliance initiatives, and help ensure organizational practices align with relevant legislation, including Alberta's Continuing Care Act, Health Information Act, Access to Information Act, Protection of Privacy Act, and Provincial Health Agencies Act. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys balancing legal work with project coordination, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement. Description:

The Paralegal provides legal, governance, & administrative support to the General Counsel & Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) Legal team. The successful candidate supports legal operations by coordinating legal documentation/conducting research/managing records & assisting with compliance/governance & risk management activities. Key Responsibilities: Draft, review, format, & manage contracts, agreements, legal correspondence, & legal documents. Conduct legal research to support legal advice, negotiations, due diligence activities, & risk management initiatives. Maintain legal files, records, & document management systems while ensuring compliance with legislation requirements. Prepare concise summaries of legal issues, obligations, & risks to support decision-making. Assist with the development & implementation of legal processes, policies, procedures, & compliance frameworks. Support governance activities by preparing Board & Committee materials, including agendas, resolutions, & meeting documentation. Coordinate information flow between the Legal team & Board Office & maintain governance records. Provide project & administrative support, including document control, report preparation, issue tracking, & monitoring activities. Liaise with operational teams, contractors, government agencies, & stakeholders to support legal & governance matters. Build & maintain working relationships with internal & external partners. Identify & escalate legal, operational, & service delivery concerns. Ensure legal documents & agreements to adhere to ALA standards. Perform other related duties as assigned. This position requires strong organizational/research/analytical/communication/relationship-building skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy & confidentiality.
