Job description

We are seeking a Client Programs Senior Manager to join our Clients & Markets team. This role leads the team responsible for delivering the firm's market recognition programs and initiatives, while directly managing and contributing to high-profile directory submissions, award nominations, and other profile-raising activities. The role supports the firm's market recognition strategy, drives profile growth, and advances process improvements across the function.

The role works closely with the practice and with colleagues across the Clients & Markets team. It involves continuous engagement with leadership and lawyers across the country and requires strong project management skills and a track record of developing trusted relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of award, directory, and league table submissions to support firm strategy and market position.
  • Analyze ranking and award outcomes, identify trends and opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve market positioning and future performance.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, mentorship, and quality assurance for team members involved in directories, awards, and related initiatives.
  • Advise leadership on market recognition opportunities, risks, and performance.
  • Partner with the Client Programs Director to identify and implement technology and process improvements across the function.
  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching on submission content, referee management, and interview preparation.
  • Develop submission best practices, templates, and processes, driving continuous improvement across programs and methodology.
  • Develop communications strategy to maximize the visibility and impact of rankings, awards, and other recognition.
  • Work closely with the broader Clients & Markets team, including matter management, pursuits, and demand generation teams.

Directories

  • Project manage legal directory submissions, including submission drafting and editing, stakeholder coordination, workback schedules, and internal communications.
  • Provide guidance and coaching on submission content, referee management, and interview preparation.
  • Drive process and technology improvements to improve submission quality, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Manage relationships with ranking organization and publishers.

Awards

  • Implement the firm's legal awards strategy, identifying opportunities to strengthen market profile and support client recognition.
  • Advise leadership on candidate selection and investment across programs.
  • Assess outcomes and recommend future approaches.

Skills and qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or a related role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • Experience leading and developing a team in a high-profile, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs, frameworks, or operational improvements.
  • Experience managing submissions to leading legal ranking and award programs, with a strong understanding submission criteria and methodology.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with experience presenting recommendations and insights to leadership.
  • Self-starter who can work on their own initiative and is proactive developing ideas and solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of client objectives, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a flexible approach.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset but is not required.

The salary bands provided reflect the typical range for this role in the region indicated. Toronto: $128,300 - $158,500 Ottawa: $125,300 - $154,800 Vancouver: $125,300 - $154,800
