Job description

The Department of Music in the David R. Hayworth School of Arts and Design at High Point University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet position beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate applied trumpet lessons to music majors, minors, and non-majors
  • Recruit and mentor trumpet students within the growing HPU music program
  • Perform as Principal Trumpet in the High Point University Community Orchestra
  • Collaborate with music faculty in performances, student recruitment, and artistic initiatives
  • Participate in departmental events as appropriate

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in Trumpet Performance, Music Education, or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence as a performer and teacher
  • Ability to teach students with a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills

Preferred:

  • Doctorate or equivalent professional experience
  • College/university teaching experience
  • Experience performing in orchestral, commercial, or chamber settings
  • Evidence of successful student recruitment and studio growth
