Description
The Shift Superintendent serves as the Senior Operations Leader in charge of operations during the assigned shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring Safety, Quality, Productivity, and On-time Delivery objectives are achieved. The Shift Superintendent provides leadership across all three MFG departments, acting as incident commander during critical Safety drills or actual operational emergencies, coordinating MFG operations and support resources daily, resolving barriers to production, and ensuring operational alignment to GEOTEK priorities. This role works collaboratively with Production Supervisors, Production Managers, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS, HR, and Supply Chain to achieve business objectives and reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Shift: Monday- Thursday | 4:30PM-4:00AM
Essential Functions:
Leadership of MFG Operations
• Serve as the primary decision-maker for operational issues occurring during assigned shifts and escalation of critical issues
• Provide operational leadership and direction for 6-10 Production Supervisors (indirect reporting relationship) across PULT, PUPI, and FW during assigned shifts.
• Drive shift performance results in areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and On-Time Delivery objectives, through accountability to standard WI's and operational discipline, during your shift.
• Establish and communicate shift priorities based on production schedules and customer commitments
• Coordinate labor and resources across departments to support changing production requirements
• Ensure scheduled work is being executed in the proper sequence and according to established standards
• Lead escalation and containment activities during operational disruptions
• Provide updates to Leadership regarding production performance, risks, and recovery plans
• Support on-shift Supervisors with HR related matters, including deescalations, coaching, and the Administration of employee discipline; in collaboration with associated Department Manager and the HR dept.
• Maintain a significant presence on the manufacturing floor to monitor performance and provide direction
• Monitor departmental performance and take action to optimize results
• Ensure manufacturing areas maintain established housekeeping and floor management standards
• Promote a positive, engaged work environment aligned with the company TRUE values, while supporting company policies and mission
• Perform other duties as assigned
Cross Functional Coordination and Continuous improvement
• Work closely with Production Supervisors, Managers, EHS, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and Supply Chain as necessary to achieve production objectives
• Support implementation of new equipment, processes, and operational improvements
• Identify opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Productivity, and employee engagement/retention
• Ensure effective communication between shifts and departments, cross-functionally
• Lead problem-solving activities and root cause investigations
Administration & Reporting
• Complete shift reports and communicate performance results
• Ensure accurate production reporting and KPI tracking
• Monitor labor utilization, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, training, and operational metrics
• Escalate significant issues to Operations Leadership as required
• Assist MGR's with annual performance reviews and other administrative duties as assigned by Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with a track record of driving Safety, Quality, Productivity, and On-Time Delivery results
• 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience; supervisory and multi-departmental leadership experience preferred
• Strong understanding of Manufacturing operations, production flow, workforce deployment, and operational problem-solving
• Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and hold teams accountable without direct reporting authority
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving (incl. conflict-resolution) skills
• Ability to make sound decisions independently and exercise good judgment in fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Proficient using computers for ERP transactions, KPI tracking, reporting, email, and Microsoft office applications
• Proven ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions to completion
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to understand production processes, equipment operation, and technical documentation (preferred)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing demands
• Self-motivated with hands-on leadership approach and strong floor presence
Physical Work Conditions
Time is to be split between the floor and the office, ranging anywhere from 70-85% on the manufacturing production floor and 30%-15% in the office. Must be comfortable standing up to 12 hours per day, working around tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, and vapors.
