Job Summary:
The Buyer is accountable for the execution of material requirements planning policies and Purchase Order transactions. Working independently, the Buyer will use judgment and discretion for large dollar purchase orders and will ensure quality standards and cost containment parameters are maintained.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible to purchase materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizes price, delivery, and terms. Will ensure customer satisfaction, while staying within the parameters of the company inventory goals.
Analyze a selected number of manufactured and purchased products to determine proper lot sizing, safety stock levels, Kanban levels and planning horizons.
Identifies potential suppliers and issues requests for quotations. Analyzes and selects suppliers and issues purchase orders; follows-up and expedites as necessary. Investigates and qualifies suppliers. Utilize system MRP and Kanban reports, make decisions on the frequencies and quantities of orders to be purchased.
Select suppliers based on published departmental guidelines and general knowledge of vendor capabilities and performance history, place orders with suppliers and track orders from placement to receipt and acceptance.
Return of, or reworking, material declared surplus as a result of engineering changes, cancellations of orders, etc.
Initiate/opens purchase orders to meet need dates for demand taking into account safety stock, inventory levels and lot sizing.
Ensure purchasing standards are met to buy quality products, delivered on time, at a fair market price.
Responsible for finding key problem areas requiring action how to prevent future problems.
Serve as internal expert and will be a reliable internal resource on specific commodities such as electronics, metals, etc. to assist manufacturing and engineering when seeking product alternatives.
Will interface directly with sales and will resolved any/all internal issues quickly and diplomatically.
Will ensure fairness and accountability in dealing with suppliers and with all departments or individuals doing business with the Materials Department.
Monitor market trends and conditions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education: High school graduate. Associates degree in Business or related field (or related experience) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in a business setting, experience in a manufacturing organization helpful. Minimum two years of previous material control and buying experience preferred.
Pay Range: $61,920 - $92,880
