Job description

Mine Maintenance Shift Coordinator

Supervises activities of bargaining unit employees engaged in maintaining mine equipment and machinery. Coordinates activities of and provides directions to other maintenance forepersons in harmony with shift production supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs activities of subordinates assigned to all phases of maintaining the machinery and equipment used in the trona mining process. Assists in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to subordinates and assign duties. Requisitions and keeps a supply of spare parts. Plans and coordinates maintenance activities with shift production supervisor consistent with goals and objectives of production and utility departments. Provides direction to other maintenance forepersons on shift.

Inspect work area to ensure specific work environment safety standards are being met. Investigates irregularities, upsets and accidents; recommends procedures and methods to improve production capabilities, equipment performance, product quality and employee safety.

Interprets Company policies to subordinates and enforces safety regulations. Ensure compliance with labor agreement and addresses complaints at the initial step of the grievance procedure. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate subordinates to achieve work goals. Addresses inappropriate behavior issues. Ensures adherence to standard operational procedures and work practices related to quality, quantity, safety and efficiency.

Maintains time and maintenance records. Ensure that reports, work orders, requisitions, logs, and other work-related documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have ability to prioritize assignments and make well-rounded timely decisions. Must have knowledge and understanding of safe and efficient mine maintenance practices, procedures and regulations. Must possess applicable Wyoming mine certifications. Bachelor's degree in related field; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous mine maintenance supervisory experience required.

Mine Production/Utility Foreperson

General Summary of Duties:

Supervises hourly mine utility employees to meet production goals in a safe and cost-efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

Administers safety program and ensures safety policies and procedures are followed within work group. Conducts periodic safety huddles and monthly safety meetings. Provides feedback to hourly employees.

Ensures compliance with labor agreement and addresses complaints at the initial step of the grievance procedure. Communicates and ensures compliance with Company policies and directives.

Controls costs and maintains productivity by ensuring that effective and efficient work practices are maintained.

Coordinates training efforts to increase the overall skill level of work group.

Maintains cooperative team effort with subordinates and other departments and work groups. Communicates effectively with others to ensure smooth flow of information.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field a minimum of 2 years of underground mining experience; or High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of underground mining experience. Working knowledge of State and Federal MSHA rules and regulations. Strong organizational, coordination and communication skills. Previous supervisory experience desirable. Must possess Wyoming Mine Examiner and Foreman Certification or be qualified and able to obtain such within specified time period.
