These programs aim to help low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs. TRIO includes several distinct programs such as Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services, each providing tutoring, counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other support services. The goal is to increase college access, retention, and graduation rates for underrepresented students.

What are the typical responsibilities of a TRIO program coordinator?

As a TRIO Program Advisor, you’ll typically support first-generation, low-income, or disabled students by providing academic guidance, organizing workshops, and connecting students to campus resources. Your role is vital in helping students overcome barriers to college retention and graduation, making your work both impactful and rewarding. Advisors also play a key part in cultivating an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters student achievement.
