About This Role

Substitute Teachers needed for Infants - Pre-K classes: Morning and afternoon shifts available in all age groups - Infants, Ones, Twos, Threes, and Four year old classes. Substitute teachers work on a flexible, as-needed schedule.

Position summary: Substitute teachers will work in tandem with the classroom Lead and Assistant Teachers to facilitate activities and care for the children. These positions include the coordination and implementation of all classroom activities and safety guidelines according to National Lutheran Schools Accreditation standards. Trinity Lutheran Academy is a Christian preschool. A background check with fingerprinting will be required.

Experience: Prior group childcare experience is highly recommended.


What You'll Do
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.

Requirements
  • Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain this.
  • Must clear full background check with fingerprinting.
  • Ability to use positive guidance in responding to behavioral challenges and the ability to model and teach social skills.
  • Sitting, squatting, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • Must be 18 years old
