Clinical Cytogeneticist - PRN/ Woodward, (1629)

Schedule: PRN with weekends, holidays, on-call, and other shifts as needed.JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Cytogeneticist will perform clinical interpretations of cases in karyotyping and FISH. The Clinical Cytogeneticist will provide consultation to the medical community and TriCore clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide support to the Cytogenetics Medical Director in assuring compliance with all applicable regulations (including but not limited to safety, CAP and CLIA).

2. Provide test interpretation and clinical consultation to laboratory and clinical service clients, as scheduled.

3. Develop and maintain relationships with Genetic Counselors, if necessary, to improve medical outcomes and appropriateness of testing.

4. Provide sign out of clinical cases in concert with Medical Directors.

5. Participate in Abnormal Case Review for the cytogenetics department, when requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
  • Ph.D. in relevant field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) years progressive experience in a clinical laboratory.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • ACMG Board Certified as a Clinical Cytogeneticist.
PREFERRED
  • A record of achievement and leadership in clinical cytogenetics, FISH and array CGH.
  • A record of scholarly achievement related to medicine and genetics.
  • A record of experience with constitutional and oncology interpretation and consultation.

12.Must maintain an up to date knowledge of laboratory medicine through self-study and continuing education. 13.Attend a minimum of nine (9) continuing education programs per anniversary year with a minimum of one (1) outside the organization.
