Job description

The controls Engineer will be a vital member of the assembly and testing team in Alpharetta, GA. They will be involved with the project during all phases (proposals, design, engineering, assembly, testing, and commissioning.
They will be accountable for the following:
  1. Crucial safety and reliability items are not missed during all project phases.
  2. Verify that the designed and engineered logic is consistent with the control narrative and flowcharts.
  3. Verify that all testing is performed as outlined in the testing documentation.
  4. Ensure that Quality Control documentation is completed and meets the end customers' requirements.

Their daily work activities will be coordinated through the Testing Lead Engineer. The Testing group is part of the Service Operations Group and is where all projects must pass through before being presented to the customer for acceptance.
Rockwell/ Allen Bradley PLC's testing & programming experience
The main responsibility will be to perform the testing on cabinets and equipment prior to customer Factory Acceptance Test.
Job tasks and functions will include, but not be limited to:
  1. Co-ordinate with engineers to review designed logic
  2. Work with manufacturing if any defects are found during testing.
  3. Work with the Test Lead to develop or modify testing documentation to ensure we are proficient and effective during the testing phase.
  4. Perform Factory Acceptance Testing with the customer
  5. Travel to perform site walkdowns, installation, commissioning, and service work of the different systems we install at the customers site.
  6. Learn the various control systems and HMI
  7. Initial setup of HW and its power up.
  8. Integrated testing of application software and its Hardware
  9. Protection testing including software and HW
  10. Test application software in a simulated environment to validate the process flow and software integrity.
  11. Prepare final test report and share the lessons learned with the team.

Requirements
  • Associates Degree in a technical field
  • 5 years' experience
  • Expected travel 10%
  • Technical experience with various control systems, DCS, PLC, and HMU with emphasis on the following:
    • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience:
      • Rockwell/Allen Bradley (Studio 5000)
      • GE
    • HMI programming experience:
      • Siemens
      • Wonderware
  • Knowledge of:
    • Modbus and/or other serial communications
    • OPC
    • Data Highway +
  • In-depth instrumentation knowledge:
    • Pressure switches and transmitters
    • Thermocouple and RTD sensors
    • Control Valves
    • Timers
    • Intrinsic Isolators
    • AC and DC LVDT
    • Flow swithces and transmitters
    • Flukes and how to use them
    • Level switches and transmitters
    • Motor Control Circuits
