Job Description
 
A busy Cardiology practice is seeking an experienced Bilingual Medical Assistant to support its patient triage call center. This is a phone-based position responsible for assisting patients, documenting clinical messages, coordinating communication with providers, and processing FMLA and disability paperwork.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound patient calls in a cardiology triage call center environment.
  • Speak with patients regarding symptoms, medication questions, test results, appointments, and other clinical concerns.
  • Document patient calls and messages accurately in the EMR and route clinical concerns to the appropriate provider or nursing staff.
  • Identify urgent or emergent patient concerns and escalate according to established clinical protocols.
  • Assist with prescription refill requests and communicate provider instructions to patients.
  • Coordinate patient follow-up and communicate regarding testing, procedures, referrals, and treatment plans.
  • Complete and process FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and other medical paperwork.
 
Qualifications and Requirements:
 
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Cardiology experience required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Previous experience with FMLA and disability paperwork preferred.
  • Triage, call center, or high-volume patient phone experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent telephone communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to recognize when patient concerns require immediate escalation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple patient requests simultaneously.
