Job description

Position Summary:

The Phone Triage Medical Assistant is responsible for coordinating nephrology patient care by triaging patient phone calls, relaying information in a timely manner by utilizing the EHR to enter messages into the patients chart

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support assigned provider(s).
    • Answer phones, respond to voicemails and use the electronic health record to enter messages into the patients chart.
    • Room patients including but not limited to: obtaining vital signs such as height, weight, and blood pressure, reviewing/updating patients medication list, and obtaining a urine specimen for urinalysis.
    • Prepare electronic health records for the physician, including making sure all necessary records are accounted for before the visit (labs/radiology/testing).
    • Process prescription refills and obtain prior authorization for medications.
    • Maintain supplies, equipment, and stock exam rooms; practice HIPAA & OSHA compliance and safety standards.
    • Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
    • Perform miscellaneous job duties as requested.
    • Travel to other KSOSN clinics as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant certificate or diploma required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of medical assistant experience required.
  • Knowledge and appropriate use of medical terminology required.
  • Must have excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be task oriented, self-motivated, and able to work remotely if needed without supervision
  • Experience with Telemedicine preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an urgent care or specialty setting preferred.
