The Senior Communications Specialist provides communications support and expertise across a variety of channels to increase awareness of IT strategy, partnerships and programs both within IT and throughout the global Shire community. 

Write crisp, professional communications for a diverse, global audience. 

Collaborate with IT managers to create announcements for new hires, promotions, and other organizational changes.

Create, edit, and update web content on the Shire Intranet using Microsoft SharePoint. 

Plan and execute communications events, including lunch-and-learns, manager's meetings, and other special events.

Lead the communications for global IT projects as assigned. 

Research, interview, write, and edit news stories that demonstrate the value that IT brings to the business. 

Assist with script creation and production of informal videos showcasing IT projects and strategy. 

Provide a consistent stream of internal social media content via Yammer. 

Drive IT adherence to Shire's branding standards. 

Create attractive, user-centric print collateral, including infographics, job aids, and service brochures. 

At least seven years' experience providing communications within a corporate environment (preferably with a focus on IT) 

Prior experience in a global pharma or biotech environment preferred 

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with audiences of all levels 

Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships 

Ability to influence others and move toward common goals 

Resourceful, flexible and adaptable work style

Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint required. 

Experience managing projects, planning events, creating content and general understanding of graphic design principles and user experience required. 

Experience with Adobe Photoshop and iMovie desired but not required. 


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing or public relations required.
