Graduate law students in the Washington College of Law’s LL.M., 2.) S.J.D, and Humphrey Fellowship Programs, 3.) JD and graduate law students from outside of the US, advising them on how to navigate JD job searches as non-US citizens, 4.) JD students who are interested in pursuing a position in an international legal practice. The LLM & International Student Career Counselor may also develop additional sector- or practice area-specific expertise. The position coordinates with the faculty and administrators of the LL.M. and S.J.D. programs, as well as WCL programs, student groups, and other internal and external organizations and associations. The LLM & International Student Career Counselor collaborates with a team that includes career counselors, employer relations professionals, and administrative employees. **Essential Functions:**1.) Career Counseling * Counsel 150+ graduate law students enrolled in the LL.M, S.J.D., and Humphrey programs on all aspects of career planning and professional development, including self-assessment, resumes, cover letters, job search, interviewing, and networking.* Advise non-citizen JD and graduate law students on job search strategies inside and outside of the US, including helping them identify externships and Optional Practical Training positions.* Counsel JD students interested in pursuing roles in international legal practice, in the US and abroad.* Use career counseling and coaching techniques to support student success.* Develop and share deep knowledge of a range of legal career pathways, including in the public and private sectors in the US and worldwide. 2.) Programming and Communications* Develop and facilitate job search skills, professional development workshops, and other educational programs and initiatives related to student and graduate employment.* Serve as liaison between WCL and AU’s International Student and Scholar Services.* Draft and edit student communications regarding job search skills and opportunities. 3.) Industry Analysis and Engagement* Analyze legal trends and develop employer networks.* Gather information about job and hiring trends and cultivate internship and employment opportunities.* Identify jobs suitable for LL.M. students and alumni.* Work with the OCPD’s recruiting team to create recruiting opportunities for WCL students. 4.) Professional Development* Participate in professional organizations related to career counseling and legal employment.* Review publications to keep abreast of job market trends. 5.)
