Job description

The Trenchless Technology Specialist / Design Consultant will support planning, design, and construction of trenchless conveyance infrastructure projects mainly in the Eastern US, but could help with projects nation-wide. This role is a senior technical position focused on delivery excellence, risk management, and application of best practices for trenchless technologies, including micro-tunneling, tunneling, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), jack-and-bore, pilot tube methods, and related trenchless construction techniques.ย 

Thisrole advances the vision and strategy fortheย Conveyance Infrastructure Technology Practice, ensuring alignment with national practice goals and contributing to market growth and development. This role is responsible for deliveringhigh qualitytechnical solutionsandoverseeing the technical rigor and documentationthrough the use of Practicestandards forproject deliveryandclient services teamsacross the company,as well astechnicalpracticesleadership.Thisrole may also be responsible fordeveloping andevolvingtechnical standards forregular updates, disseminatingtechnicalknowledge throughout theorganizationand mentoring less experienced technical staff in alignment with Practice leadership.Work is performed independently with limited supervision.ย 

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the consistent application of technical standards, guidelines, and best practices across projects and teams.ย 
  • Engage onproject delivery teamsnationallyto achieve project goals,ensuring theapplication of quality standards and best practicesto maintain consistency of technical delivery and mitigate risksthroughout the project lifecycle.ย 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and developing tailored technical solutions.ย 
  • Support Practice leader with SMS governanceand systems to drive talent development for technical practitioners.ย 
  • Assist with development oftechnicaltraining and mentoring programswithin thePractice.ย 
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.ย

  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.ย

Experienceย 

  • Typically requires minimum of5yearsin assignedtechnical arearelated experience.ย 
  • Typically certified in the SMS Framework, and progressing through the SMS competencies.ย 

Preferred Skills and Experienceย 

  • Typically 10โ€“15+ years of progressive experience delivering trenchless and underground utility infrastructure projects (planning through construction).ย 
  • Hands-on experience with one or more trenchless delivery methods (e.g., microtunneling, HDD, jack-and-bore, or tunneling), including support of design and construction-phase services.ย 
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical principles for trenchless and underground construction, including soil/rock behavior, groundwater conditions, ground improvement, and excavation/support systems.ย 
  • Familiarity with various project delivery methods, including progressive design-build, design-build, design-build, and construction manager/general contractor (CMGC)ย 

Educationย 

  • A degree in Engineering, Science, Geology, or a related field with an emphasis related tothe technicalrole required.ย 

Salary Range: Theย anticipatedย starting payย range for this position is based on the employeeโ€™s primary work location and mayย beย more or lessย dependingย upon skills, experience,ย and education.ย  These ranges may be modified in the future.ย ย ย 

Location A: $129,000 - $177,000
Location B: $142,000 - $194,000
Location C: $155,000 - $212,000
