What You'll Do General Production employees will work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer. These positions can be physically demanding and require good hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail. Production team members must be able to work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands. Read schedule and calculate the correct tree count per product scheduled Check product for non-conformances per product specification. Qualify as a tree pusher through classroom training as well as on the job training. Operate Lowerator by following the appropriate procedure to ensure employee safety. Strip product from tree and place on the line in a timely manner to ensure the line has product. Inspect product per specification prior to placing on the conveyor or table. Use a stripper knife to open netting or bags on product. Must be able to continuously lift product weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to push trees up to 2000 pounds on a regular basis.Understand and follow oral and written instructionsPerform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending armsStand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shiftWork around animal blood and/or carcass partsWork with a knife (if trained)Work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees)Work in an environment that is wet and humidWork while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoesWork in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE)Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicalsWork around strong smells/odorsClimb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platformsBend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shiftWalk long distancesThis work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups.
