Job description

The Climber / Bucket Operator is responsible for safely performing tree trimming, pruning, removal, and related arboricultural work using climbing equipment, aerial lift/bucket trucks, chainsaws, rigging systems, and other specialized equipment. The position works closely with ground crews to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Safely climb trees using ropes, harnesses, and approved climbing techniques.
  • Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts to access trees and elevated work areas.
  • Perform tree pruning, trimming, removals, and storm-damage cleanup.
  • Safely operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other tree-care equipment.
  • Set up and use ropes, rigging systems, lowering devices, and other climbing equipment.
  • Assess tree structure, branches, hazards, and surrounding property before beginning work.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional tree-care experience required; climbing and bucket-truck experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to climb trees safely, preferably using spurless climbing techniques.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts or bucket trucks.
  • Knowledge of proper pruning and tree-removal techniques.
  • Experience using chainsaws, ropes, harnesses, rigging equipment, and chippers.
