Job description

 Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                  

Moon Valley Nurseries is looking for a Mobile Sprayer to manage the company’s safe application of granular and liquid fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides for the company.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                          
  • Manage the safe application of both granular and liquid fertilizers and herbicides in adherence to all local and state regulations.
  • Engage in post and pre-emergency weed control, insect identification, weed identification, and plant identification.
  • Operate all spray equipment.
  • Spray, calibrate, mix, load and apply pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Operate computers on equipment operated by computers or other advanced technologies.
  • Handle packaged agricultural chemicals within appropriate safety guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain daily application records.
  • Participate in required training, such as tree/plant protection product mixing and operation of application equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned and as needed.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                 
  • License or certification to apply chemical pesticides.
  • Previous experience in fertilizers and crop protection product application, farming, and/or nursery a plus
  • Clear and effective communication, documentation, and reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work additional hours to meet business demands.
Education                                                                                                                                                                                          

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers, and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
