Job description

Position Summary
While providing supervision, a Journeyman Tree Trimmer maintains trees for public safety. This position provides tree trimming for assigned jobs by pruning, cutting, removing, and caring for trees. While performing the assigned jobs, you may be exposed to hazards of working near traffic, falling limbs, and power lines, making attention to detail and safety guidelines critical. A Journeyman Tree Trimmer provides on-the-job training, specific day-to-day directions, and crew supervision. This position is a top-level class in the Tree Trimmer series and serves as Lead Trimmer in the Foreperson or General Foreperson's absence.
Duties and Responsibilities Include
Essential Duties:
  • Properly maintains tools and equipment used to work around energized power lines
  • Identifies due diligence and assesses tree failure risk
  • Performs ground operations and equipment usage
  • Demonstrates ability to identify tree species, characteristics of trees, and if it has diseased and/or pest problems
  • Performs tree pruning, tree removal functions, brush chipping, and stump grinding
  • Operates and maintains tree-trimming equipment
  • Sprays trees to treat diseased or unhealthy trees, including mixing chemicals and calibrating spray equipment
  • Provides training to other trimmers
  • Duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice
What You'll Bring to the Team
  • Journeyman level required; additional experience is a plus
  • Experience with a tree care/maintenance program
  • Possession of a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record per Company policy
  • Will be required to pass a DOT physical examination to obtain the appropriate CDL
  • QLCTT Certified
  • Obtain Pesticide License
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Certified Flagger
  • Semi-skilled in mechanics
  • Must be able to complete a proficiency test consisting of climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the safe handling and operation of chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders
  • Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities

  • Meet all physical requirements of the position
  • Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
