We are seeking teamwork-oriented individuals with excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates should possess a professional work ethic with attention to detail and safety.

As a member of the Davey Tree family of companies, Davey Resource Group provides a wide range of natural resource consulting services to clients in the private and public sectors, including urban forestry consulting and tree inventories, urban forest canopy assessments, and urban forestry management planning.

Position Description and Responsibilities

Selected candidate will work collaboratively with Davey Resource Group project developers, biologists, and project managers. The position involves a variety of work including water resources delineation, Section 401/404 permitting, stream/wetland restoration design and construction, technical report writing, and management of a variety of projects that include environmental planning, permitting, monitoring, construction, and management. The primary focus of this position is to not only provide senior level project management and expertise, but also perform a key role in the development of new projects, including preparation of proposals, grant writing, networking and identifying new client relationships and project opportunities. This may include attending conferences/workshops and public speaking. Job responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the expansion of ecological consulting services in Michigan’s lower peninsula. 

  • Drive the sales process, generate project opportunities, prepare bids and proposals, and perform administrative duties, as needed.

  • Provide senior level technical expertise to clients and team.

  • Provide routine management of multiple projects at one time, preparing/reviewing/implementing work and construction plans, invoicing and labor tracking, performing final QA/QC of work performed, and supervision of subcontractors as merited;

  • Ensure clear and effective communication with clients and co-workers, including preparation of written technical reports

Required Qualifications

Potential candidates must be a college graduate with a minimum of a four-year degree in biology, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields. At least eight years of experience working in the natural resources field performing ecological consulting work and habitat restoration consulting is desired. Valuable professional credentials include PWS, ESA Certified Ecologist, and/or CPESC. Candidate should have working experience in the state of Michigan and be proficient with state laws and regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency with stream/wetlands restoration design work, including modeling and plan development; have experience performing construction oversight of restoration projects; be capable of managing large projects with multiple subcontractors; and maintain an existing network of clients and contacts within the ecological consulting industry in Michigan. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. We are seeking teamwork-oriented individuals with excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a professional work ethic with attention to detail and safety.
