Description
Under direct supervision of a certified crew leader or qualified employee, the ground person's role involves assisting crew members on the ground during tree trimming or removal near utility power lines. Responsibilities may include acting as a crew spotter, work planner, or crew flagger, in addition to routine ground duties. Each job assignment within this role has specific functions, and any ground person may be assigned to perform these tasks throughout the workday or workweek as required.
Routine Job Functions:
  • Riding in company vehicles to and from work sites.
  • Setting up work zone traffic control.
  • Retrieving tools and equipment for climbers or bucket operators.
  • Raking and operating leaf blowers for yard cleanup.
  • Fueling and oiling power tools.
  • Gathering and dragging brush and tree limbs.
  • Using chainsaws or handsaws to cut and prepare materials for wood chipping.
  • Operating dangerous machinery such as wood chippers.
  • Lifting and stacking logs.

Job Requirements:
  • Lifting/Carrying: Regularly. One (1) to Fifty (50) Pounds.
  • Crouching/Stooping/Kneeling: Regularly
  • Walking: Regularly. Work is often performed on sloping, uneven ground. Pushing: Occasionally. Approximately 33% of time.
  • Pulling: Regularly. Approximately 66% of time.
