Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance

· Mow, edge, trim, and maintain turf areas using commercial landscaping equipment.

· Perform weed control, litter removal, debris cleanup, and seasonal property maintenance.

· Maintain flower beds, planting areas, decorative landscaping, and mulch installations.

· Operate string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.

· Monitor irrigation systems and report deficiencies or repairs needed.

Landscaping Services

· Install trees, shrubs, plants, sod, ground cover, decorative rock, and mulch.

· Prepare planting beds and perform soil conditioning activities.

· Assist with landscape renovations, beautification projects, and property enhancements.

· Perform seasonal planting and landscape upgrades.

Tree and Shrub Care

· Prune and trim trees, shrubs, hedges, and ornamental plants.

· Remove dead or hazardous branches.

· Assist with tree removal and storm cleanup activities.

· Maintain proper plant health and appearance standards.

Fence Construction and Repair

· Build, repair, and maintain wood, chain-link, ornamental, and privacy fences.

· Install fence posts, gates, rails, and hardware.

· Measure, cut, and assemble fence materials safely and accurately.

Retaining Wall Construction

· Construct retaining walls using block, stone, timber, or other approved materials.

· Prepare work sites, perform grading, and ensure proper drainage.

· Read project layouts and follow construction plans and specifications.

· Perform repairs and maintenance to existing retaining walls.

Equipment Operations

· Safely operate mowers, tractors, skid steers, loaders, chainsaws, augers, compactors, trailers, and hand tools.

· Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.

· Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition.

Safety and Compliance

· Follow all TRDI safety policies and OSHA requirements.

· Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

· Report accidents, injuries, property damage, and unsafe conditions immediately.

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Ability to safely operate landscaping and construction equipment.

· Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

Preferred

· 2+ years of grounds maintenance or landscaping experience.

· Experience with fence installation and retaining wall construction.

· Knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees, and irrigation systems.

· Experience operating skid steers, compact equipment, or trailers.

· Commercial landscaping, tree care, or construction certifications.

Physical Requirements

· Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.

· Ability to work in high temperatures and outdoor environments.

· Ability to use hand and power tools for extended periods.

· Ability to lift and move landscaping materials, fence materials, stone, block, and equipment.
